Galbi Galbi / Arab popular culture
Galbi Galbi is a musical and visual tribute to Arab popular culture created by “Love and Revenge”. The band re-imagin iconic songs and cinematic gems from the Middle East.
They revisits legendary artists like Asmahan, Nagat El-Saghira, and Abdel Wahab, while also shedding light on lesser-known voices such as Mostafa Ahmad (Soudan), Touha (Saudi Arabia), and Houria (Mauritania) highlighting the essential role of women in Arab music.
The performance synchronizes remixed film excerpts with live music, drawing from musicals, B-movies, and genre films inspired by classic myths and Hollywood icons. It features stars from the golden age of Arab cinema, Samia Gamal, Tahia Carioca, Farid al-Atrach, and Souad Hosni, offering an imaginative and immersive journey through the glamour, fantasy, and forgotten brilliance of a bygone era.
